Heading Home....

Bye bye desert.... sigh....

On our last(ish) day in Palm Springs, we visited The Living Desert Gardens and had a great day just walking around, looking at gorgeous desert plants & wildlife....

Late in the day the weather made an unfortunate decision to rain and storm and gail against us and by the end of the afternoon we were the only ones left in the whole park. How Canadian....! Perhaps it was just the harbinger of our departure & a bold signal for our time to leave. Another sigh....

SO, we pointed Shaggy northward and headed along the road home. We drove like Canadian maniacs completely thru the state of California without stopping (!), passing seriously flooded fields & towns on our way... seems there was some kinda monsoon in northern parts of California (that we didn't hear about, since we've been on a total "news fast" for months now). There was water everywhere, but people were in good spirits and the weather was actually great on our trip northward. Our first real stop was Eugene Oregon on accounta that's where Christopher Alexander did his Oregon Experiment, so I figured it was a good bet.

Eugene is a super mellow place and it took us about two minutes to find a gorgeous riverside walk for the dogs and an eventual beer stop for the humans.
We parked Shaggy at the top of a little mountain, overlooking Eugene and drank our newly-purchased, fresh 'beer-in-mason-jars' while watching the sunset over Eugene.

Later, we went to go see the Narnia movie (great!) and I felt mysteriously bonded to the White Queen.... (I wonder why.....) hmmmmmm....... Tomorrow, it's onward to Seattle & more oceanside fresh beer! We read about a Beer Cruise in the Beer Times while in Eugene. Beer Cruise, beer ice cream... beer obsessions prevail at present.... yum!!
